The new Industrial Arts shed has been progressing well over the past few weeks and is anticipated to be completed around the middle of the term. Once finished, the new workshop will nearly double our previous floor space, allowing for safer movement, improved workflows, and the capacity to introduce additional industry-standard machinery and equipment in the future.

This purpose-built space will enable students to work more effectively through each stage of the design and manufacturing process, supporting precision, accuracy, and attention to detail. The upgraded workshop will play a key role in helping students develop practical skills, confidence, and pride in producing high-quality, professional pieces of work that reflect real-world industry practices.

The school is pleased to offer this unique and enjoyable sporting opportunity, which supports the development of targeting skills, fine and gross motor coordination, and turn-taking within a supportive team environment.

The sessions will run from 12 February to 5 March and align with the Australian Curriculum through the development of fundamental movement skills, coordination, strategy, and cooperative play. The program provides students with a valuable opportunity to experience a new sport while building confidence, teamwork, and physical skills.

Year 7 student Alexandra Moore, an avid writer, has written and published her own book recently. “Wolfy’s Big Day Out” is a charming tale of three dogs: Wolfy, Domino and Harley. Domino is Alexandra’s dog, while Wolfy and Harley belong to her grandparents. Alexandra has kindly donated a copy to our school library so all students can enjoy her story. Thank you, Alexandra!

Congratulations to the students who represented Noosa Adventist College at the Fraser Coast Interschool Equestrian Challenge. Deliah Mickelo in Year 6 and her horse Jack competed in the western and sporting events against a large group of riders and won 4^th Place in Mechanical Cow and 4^th Place in Barrels. This was a great achievement seeing it was only the second time she has ridden her horse Jack at an event. Ella Herd in Year 11 competed on her horse Darla and won 5^th Place in Dressage. Unfortunately, she was unable to continue competing after her first event, but we commend her dedication, skill, and determination in representing our College.

Ebony Glenny in Year 2 competed on her new horse George and came 1^st Place in Dressage, 1^st Place in Hack Class, 1^st Place in Rider Class, 1^st Place in Extreme Trail, 1^st Place in Oz Dressage, 1^st Place in Bonfield Bounce Bend, 1^st Place in Bending, 1^st Place in Barrels, 2^nd Place in Dry Pattern. Ebony won the overall Year 2 Champion.

Noosa Adventist College made a strong showing at the ASSA Basketball Gala Day on the Gold Coast, fielding five teams from Under 12 through to Under 19. Our players demonstrated grit, skill, and great sportsmanship across the board, with two teams advancing to their grand finals, narrowly missing victory. Our Under 15 girls fell short by just one point in the final minute.

Most Valuable Player Awards were proudly presented to Emerson and Isaac (U12 Boys), Tia and Hailey (U15 Girls), Hamish and Temujin (U15 Boys), Jorja and Lily Rose (U19 Girls), and Malachi and Ben (U19 Boys).

All players are to be commended for their incredible effort, teamwork, and commitment in representing NCC with pride on such a big day.

Our students met other Year 10s from local schools and worked with industry experts from QLD Hydro, the University of the Sunshine Coast, Newcastle University, and a local Rotary Club.

Overall, our college finished in second place, narrowly beaten by St Johns College of Nambour. Well done Year 10! You have set the bar pretty high!

Dr. Cadd is a celebrated artist and a finalist in every major portrait art prize in Australia, including the Archibald Prize, where his portrait of Uncle Archie Roach is displayed in the New South Wales Art Gallery. In 2018, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in the creative industries for his significant contributions to community and culture. His expressive and vibrant artwork powerfully conveys stories that bridge the divide between Aboriginal perspectives and mainstream Australia. Dr. Cadd is the first and only Aboriginal artist in over 100 years to be commissioned to create a painting for Parliament House, depicting Nova Peris, the first Aboriginal woman and senator in Parliament.

During his visit to Noosa Adventist College, Dr. Cadd thoughtfully incorporated the meaning of “Cooroy” (possum) into the mural, reflecting the local First Nations heritage. The mural also includes the handprints of two Indigenous students symbolising their connection to the school and its commitment to acknowledging and celebrating Aboriginal culture.

Primary students, parents, and staff were captivated as they watched Dr. Cadd bring the mural to life, engaging with him through questions and discussions.

This mural is a significant addition to the school, serving not only as a beautiful piece of art but also as a meaningful and educational resource. It provides an ongoing opportunity to discuss and honour the culture, history, and stories of Australia’s First Nations and Aboriginal peoples, fostering understanding and respect among students.

The school feels deeply privileged to have this remarkable work of art on campus.

“Hi! My name is Autumn, and I am now in Year 7 at Noosa Adventist College. I came to the school in the middle of last year, so my transition into high school was fairly easy for me. I absolutely love high school! The school made the transition very easy and explained everything to us on the first day. Some of my favourite parts about high school so far are having a lot of different teachers and classrooms and also being able to have little breaks in between classes. One of the things that I find a lot easier in high school is having a schedule so we can keep track of our classes. They also gave us all assessment calendars, which makes it so much easier to plan and know if you want to study!” ~ Autumn, Year 7, 2025

An email went out on Friday informing parents that we are introducing our new Parent and School Code of Conduct. It will be included in the Enrolment Contract and Application for Enrolment for all new enrolments from Term 4 2024 and current families will be invited to accept the new Code from January 2025 via the Consent2Go platform. You can access this document on our website and Parent SEQTA Engage.

As with every year there are always some teachers we have to say goodbye to, and introduce some new teachers who will be joining us for 2025. We are sad to see the following teachers leave the NCC family. Mr Sam Krieg will be moving to NSW, Miss Jenaya Lewis and Miss Tiarna Lewis will be travelling abroad, Miss Margaret Graham will be doing volunteer work overseas and Mrs Sarah Cutlack will be moving to Tasmania.

The new teachers joining us for 2025 are Mrs Jacqueline Taylor, Mr Michael Taylor, Mrs Tamsyn Shofay, Mrs Danyel Efstratiou, Mrs Amy Steel, Miss Jessica Appel, and Mr Reuben Sleight. There will be further details to follow at the end of the term.

This term we have our Grandparents’ Day this Friday, Year 12 exams started this week, the Year 12 Tribute Chapel and Formal are also in Week 7, Year 12 Vanuatu Service Trip in Week 8, Year 9 and 10 Exam Week (Week 8), Year 6 Graduation Dinner in Week 9, Kindy Graduation and Orientation Day in Week 10, and separate Primary and Secondary Awards Nights in Week 10. We look forward to seeing our students and parents participate in these upcoming events and celebrate the successes of each student’s achievements in 2024.
